A bearing going bad has a pretty distinct sandy sound.

As far as the flutter, when the clutch on the SC engages, the motor loses power due to the parasitic losses from the energy required to turn the supercharger. You might be feeling that but also the first time the lobes start spinning they have to pressurize all of the air between the supercharger and the intake valves. This sometimes can have a cluttery compressor surge like sound to it, since basically the supercharger is fighting this solid wall of air
I've almost ruled out bearing going bad. Somebody earlier described the noise as a piece of paper in a bike wheel and I would agree. It's not super loud. I would say it does sound a little like compressor surge (my SRT-4 used to have that on higher boost), but I just didn't think the C3 pulley would be putting out that much boost. I will do my best to get a high quality sound clip of it in the near future.

In the first part of your paragraph the SC engaging, I absolutely recognize/feel that...and this sound is totally separate from that.
