Default Re: 04 Prices continue to drop...

I simply do not believe someone bought a 2004 new coupe for $19,500! I sell at a Chrysler dealership and that can not be true I don't care how desperate they are. The only way they may have done that was to slaughter the guy on rate. You see in car sales you either make it in the front meaning you make a gross profit or you make it in the back end meaning you make like 3 points in rate or sell a ridiculously high extended warranty and make it that way. Either way the numbers didn't make sense. Say you have a 04 coupe that stickers for around $35,600 they have about $3500 in mark up and then you have Dealer holdback of 3% which is $1068 in addition you have $4000 of dealer cash on 04's which is the sames as a rebate but you don't have to disclose it to a customer unless you want to. Taking this into consideration we come to a price of $27, 032 this is dead cost to the dealer. Lets say that this is a six-speed and doesn't have the all season tires so our price is about $2,000 less that brings us to $25,032. I find it hard to believe that a dealer would lose over $5,000 to "just move it" So either the Washington dealer is the dumbest dealer in the world or your friend is lying. Id have to see the contract.
