Re: Car wash story
Some thoughts off the top of my head Robin: I have the '05 Roadster in Red...and love it!
1. 20-30 more HP at the wheels. hell, put them in the trunk, just get more HP in there.
2. The center console lid doesn't stay closed well, even after repair. Might be a mfg. defect, but not sure. It takes several "slams" of the lid to get it to stay shut usually. I blame the Germans. LOL!
3. Update the damn gearbox to the new Mercedes....even the Crossfire tech at my dealer said it's the most horrid gearbox on the planet. It's chunky as hell in gears 1-3. If you fix only one thing on this car, make it that!
4. There is a lag in the accelerator sensor between pushing the gas and the throttle in the engine reading the change and turning on the gas. It's small, almost imperceptible unless you really concentrate, but it's there and it's annoying at times, esp. sitting on an uphill grade at a light.
5. This baby should come standard with non-dust brake pads. These wheels are a ***** to clean, so i'm going to have to buy some Rotex Gold and have the dealer put them on. From what i've read on here, that tends to solve the problem. It's a small price for Chrysler, but a nice touch, and a hell of a marketing tool to this crowd.
6. The factory Navigation/radio (a mighty $1200 option i might add, which i didn't have a choice on) is terrible to use and without a real display is near useless. That needs a fixing! I've stopped using it entirely and find myself angry at the thought of continuing to pay for it in my payment each month.
7. Tilt wheel. The steering column should tilt. The telescoping wheel seemed like an afterthought, or maybe just a holdover from a bad Mercedes design. That might solve some of the "leg room" problems some have encountered, as well as some ingress/egress issues (i put up Styrofoam on my garage wall to keep the door from impacting concrete when i'm getting in or out of the car through those massively wide/long doors. a tilt wheel would be nice and helpful)
8. Wireless phone link. Could be a nice option, but those of us who spend lots of time on the phone while driving (i use Bluetooth wireless currently) might like a decent in-car wireless phone connection option for our Bluetooth phones that works with the top down. Hell, i'm not sure there's one out there, but it's worth a look (and maybe one of you can help me out).
9. Off the top of my head, those are my thoughts/issues/problems. Not much i don't like about this car actually! If you could install a "weather control device" to allow us to direct 75 degrees and sunshine onto the vehicle at all times, that would be nice too. Thanx for caring about what those of us Xfire owners think! I owned 2 Sebring coupes before this, and if you keep it up, i might never need another car manufacturer in my life!
