Back in the old days when we had to get out score marks we used a hone and a counter balanced electric drill on a pulley.
Kind of crude but so were we. It did work and it was cheaper than having it done professionally. We cut of any lip made by wear.
I do not think I would do this on our engines, get it reground and fit new rings, maybe even pistons, depends on amount of metal removed. It may be better to get a new engine depends on your mileage.
