Sorry Dan, you're just plain wrong, as is so often the case.

An 18 year old, living at home and being supported by parents, can sign contracts and be held accountable for them and NOT the parents NOT be held accountable for them just because they're supporting them. It's called the age of majority, look it up.

That goes to consequences for the actions such as vandalism damage as well.

Look at credit card companies. They target 18+ year olds all the time. 18 year old living at home off mom and dad runs up a credit card bill (in her name) does NOT make the parents liable for the debt. Again, it's the same for any damage the person may do in an act of vandalism.

Credit card companies all the time give credit cards to kids with no visible means of support other than their parents, while in school to use your example.

If the kid is driving her own car, in her name, and insured ONLY in her name. Wrecks it, does property damage beyond what insurance will cover...the aggrieved cannot go to the host parent for recourse...only the kid. That's even if mom and dad are paying all bills and putting a roof over her head.

But as always, Dan, you never let anything like facts get in the way of what you post.
