Soldering worked. I took off the connectors and they were fine on the resistor's wire, but on the light's wires, they didn't even penetrate the insolation and so where completely pointless. I soldered one end of the resistor onto the positive wire, right after the socket, and soldered the other end of the resistor onto the negative wire, right after the socket. I did this on both license plate lights where I installed LEDs and now my burnt out light indicator is off. On a different note, I changed my interior lights to LED's too and bought a couple different colors. I had UV, but I didn't like the look in the interior so I gave it to my friend and the bulb just happened to fit his license plate light on his black rx8. The UV looks really good shining on the license plate, at night it still lights up the plate but just looks really good. If someone wants to try that on their crossfire, I'm sure they would get similar results.
