Autos are faster on drags. No Question.That's why you see them more oftenthan sticks at the track. But on road courses theyaren't. So far. As the technology improves in the automatic, with double clutch systems andpaddle controls giving the drivers more direct resposes, the auto will soon reign supreme there as well.
I'm not a stick guy because I think it is faster. I just prefer the direct, simpler control of the vehicle's progress over the ground.
That and the 6 spd unit is more reliable and cheaper to fix.
Besides, on interstate driving, even an SRT auto is a bore.

It's not that they are faster. They are more consistent, and hold up to abuse better for this kind of driving.
