Im going to dodge a bullet this time because they have located one.. But according to Chrysler there are certain parts that Mercedes made that after the divorce that are no longer made or only come from Germany...What I also learned from all of this is that Mercedes wont work on the car and Chrysler dealer here in Mid TN barely knew more about the car than I did.

This happened to be a part that made the computer system connect to lots of the other electrical modules.. If they were not able to locate it, then it would have had to have been hand made I guess??.. as the car was not able to be driven.

The dealer also told me that they had another xfire cust that had a part that was on back order thru sometime in 2011!!??

I certainly LOVE this car, its awesome no doubt..Im not even ready to sell it or trade it or anything drastic.. Despite the $9K repair bill (thank you state farm!)
but am not sure about 5 years from now.

Here in Mid TN---Stuttgart South can work on this car. They are located at 621 7th Avenue South, Nashville, Tennessee 37201 (615) 256-2565. I have taken several MBs there and that is what this car is---so he can do it.

As for parts, in 5 more years the used parts market will have more cars in it. And MB will have parts for the SLK---Hard yes---Impossible no. I owned a repair shop for 10 years and had to hunt at times, and like you, I always found the part---so it can be done. The body panels will be the trick in the future. I can not believe that ALL the harness was bad, but I was not there.

I live in Nashville; which dealer did you go to?
