Then last Friday got in the car to go to work and nothing. Came home from lunch car started right up I drove it for about 20 minutes then parked it. after work tried starting it again and nothing. The car would not turn over, not so much as a click from the starter.
After first getting the battery checked and found it to be good I got on this Forum to see if this is a common problem. I found the thread on "no Start" conditions and I checked the RCM for cracks or breaks in the solder joints and couldn't see any problem(I DID NOT CHECK WITH MAGNIFYING GLASS). After burning up my weekend dealing with this thing I got it towed to the dealer on Sunday.
The dealer finally got back to me today, Tuesday, and informed me that there was corrosion build up on the terminal pins of the PCM and BCM now the corrosion didn't look bad but yes it was there. The dealer mechanic was able to start it but said it died shortly after.
The price to replace these 2 parts is OUTRAGEOUS. . He said he can try cleaning the terminals and see what happens but couldn't promise me the car would start. I need to know 2 things....1: I need to find another reputable mechanic in the Dallas Tx area for a second opinion, and 2 does this sound right or has anybody seen anything like this.
i just bought this car and the CARFAX WAS CLEAN, it only has 20850 miles.
I will take any and all suggestion I JUST WANT TO BE BACK IN MY CAR!!!
My bet is the RCM....you can only see thru the magnifying glass....if you don't want to do it....contact tighed1....he now has a replacement...will do it for 10 bucks....
