When I installed mine, I fabricated brackets to ensure the placement I wanted, not to mention the fact that my base model did not have the OEM subs, or their brackets, so I had to.
In the best buy install above, I would put $100 on it that they used the factory brackets and just mounted them almost sideways the way the factory ones require.
In my opinion to use a 2 way speaker and not a seperate, and then to install them facing into the inside of a covered carpeted area, effectively cancelling everything but the bass, which the OEM subs were producing, is a waste. If you are happy thats all that matters, I would also NEVER let some punk at Best Buy touch my baby (I was MECP certified (Mobile Electronics Certified Professional) and worked at Best Buy many years ago and know how they operate).
If you are happy, which it sounds like you are, that is all that matters, certainly not my opinion.....
