Had a blowout
Driving home two days ago on the parkway when left rear Conti blew. Had a cut in the sidewall from where I banged against curb one time and it finally gave way. No problem controlling car as air didn't escape all at once. Was doing about 55 at the time. Pulled off highway and drove about eight miles on it while it was flat. Tire didn't disintegrate hardly at all and no rips in the sidewall. As we all know, very few dealers stock 19s but there's a guy who has a truck that comes to the house and installs them right there. Called 9am the next morning and by 11 had two new General UHPs on the car. Charged $495 for the two with tax and all but they were balanced and mounted and I was on my way. Had 49,000+ miles on the original tires so I figured I may as well replace them both. Kept the one that was still good for a spare just in case.
