Thanks for the note! Sorry to hear the cheap solution didn't work out for you. I just bought one on eBay for $80, comes with a six-month guarantee, so wish me luck. Just wondering though -- do you know if it's the switch that's faulty, or do you maybe have an issue with the turn signal switch as well? See some posters here saying you often need to change both switches when this sort of thing happens. Hope this isn't the case for either of us. I sure don't want to tackle that turn signal switch, as it seems like that's a bigger hassle with having to remove the steering wheel (if I'm reading the threads right).

BTW, to remove the old headlight switch and install the new one, did you follow the instructions here? Those seem pretty involved. I was hoping I could just remove the fuse panel, pull the screws in there, and then slide the switch straight out. Hoping it's gonna be that easy, and that I don't have to mess around underneath the steering wheel, pulling panels off.

Was really frustrated when this problem showed up, especially when reading here at first about the potential cost. Then took the car out for a good long run with the top down in the sunshine and I'm in love with it again...
