My soon to be ex used to feel the need to bring *everything* she might need when traveling. In addition to her clothes, makeup and other female care items, she'd bring things like a coffee maker, coffee, creamer, sugar, coffee cups and a spoon.

When I got the bike, she started out filling both saddle bags (just for us to go out cruising for the day). I added a round bag on the handlebars to give her more room if we were heading to a major event. Over the years, she has whittled down and whittled down. She now goes with only what she can fit in either a fanny pack, or a purse that she can throw on as a backpack.
