Chrysler Museum Presentations
FYI, below is an e-mail outlining a couple of programs hosted by the museum if any locals are interested:
The Walter P. Chrysler Museum is hosting two enthusiast presentations this fall – one highlighting the back stories of several of the vehicles within its collection and the other featuring tricks of the trade for taking pictures like a pro.
Both programs are presented by Shuman Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram in Walled Lake, Mich.
Under the Hood
is slated for 9:30 a.m. – noon Saturday, Sept. 18 and
Professional Motorsports Photography
is set for 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6. Both programs are part of the lecture-workshop series the Museum launched earlier this year.
Admission for each presentation – including refreshments – is $12 per person in advance and $15 at the door, with reduced admission of $10 and $14, respectively, for Museum members. The Museum now accepts advance registration online.
Under the Hood
will reveal the inside stories about many of Chrysler’s most iconic vehicles. The program will kick off with a brief historical overview of the Museum’s collection with Chrysler Group LLC’s Vehicle Collection and Archives Manager Brandt Rosenbusch and introductory remarks by Chrysler retirees, all engineers or executives whose long careers and enthusiast passion are intertwined with the vehicles on exhibit.
The majority of the
Under the Hood
session will enable attendees to informally tour the Museum’s three floors to talk one-on-one with eight Chrysler retiree experts – positioned throughout the Museum – on the following automotive and heritage topics:
·
Burt Bouwkamp, Director of Body Engineering – early Dodge Chargers and Challengers
·
Burke Brown, Chief Engineer, LX Program – 1930s era vehicles, as well as truck evolution
·
Bill Carry, National Turbine Service Supervisor – 1963 Chrysler Turbine
·
Jeff Godshall, Senior Design Manager – Chrysler corporate heritage, as well as early vehicle design
·
Marv Raguse, Sr. Mgr. Vehicle Build Operations – 1957 Plymouth Fury
·
Larry Shepard, Mopar Performance Engineer – race vehicles
·
Jack Smith, “Father of the Road Runner” – 1968 Plymouth Road Runner
·
Bruce Thomas, Corporate Historian – Chrysler during the World War II era, early Dodge trucks and the Dodge Power Wagon
Professional photographer Michael Levitt, owner of LAT USA will lead
Professional Motorsports Photography
on Oct. 6, sharing advice for capturing automotive shots like a pro.
LAT USA is the largest motorsports photo agency in the US covering the NASCAR, IndyCar, Grand-Am and ALMS series. Levitt’s photographs appear in numerous national enthusiast publications, including
AutoWeek.
Projecting his images on the Museum theatre’s large screen to illustrate Photoshop techniques, Levitt will break down the technical elements and process of shooting spectacular images, featuring:
·
equipment choices;
·
exposure;
·
shooting techniques;
·
focusing;
·
post production; and
·
transmission.
Levitt will also share his experiences in working with drivers as well as the dangers of motorsports photography.
Additional information and advance registration for both presentations is available by contacting the Walter P. Chrysler Museum at
