There is no reason to remove the clip at all, as the bulb will go into the socket just by lifting the clip out of the way.
If it is removed it is a real trick to put it into place again with the bulb in there.
Get some steel or brass wire about the same diameter and bend one up to the shape of another clip. As long as the wire is not to soft it should work and is a cheap fix.
