I would personally not drive the car again until I resolved the oil/filter issue. If you have the oil light on for 15 minutes, it is telling you that you are low on oil. After the engine heats up (15 minutes), the oil may reach the minimum fill mark allowing the light to go off. Not sure that I want to think about what is happening to your engine during those first 15 minutes.

Think about it.... If you check your oil level when the engine is hot, it will read differently than when the engine is cold. Same as with Transmission fluid levels, radiator coolant levels, and even tire air pressure.
