The VIN is the identification of the whole car and not the engine. Every position of the vin gives information about the car. Such as country of origin, plant it was assembled, type of car, transmission, body style, model year, etc. Only the position 8 gives information about the engine. It's L and means "3.2l V6 SOHC 18V". If you have any other letter you might have a 1.4l 12V from a VW. *lol*
