Hey folks,
I just spent the day installing my Infinity Basslink Sub in my Crossfire coupe. Boy is this car a tight place to work in! I took the advice of several previous posts and ran the power wire through the firewall grommet behind the battery. The ground wire was run a short way to a ground lug on top of the right rear wheel well. Tapped into the stock sub wiring for the line-out input wiring for the sub. It works great and will hold me for a while until the time comes to upgrade the stock stereo.
I ran into one strange thing though when I unbolted the amp assembly to tilt it down out of the way so I could feed the power wire through the firewall. Wire tied to one of the wire bundles was a 1-1/4"-ish flex hose. One end of the hose went up and appeared to attach to the blower box but the lower end was just laying there, unattached along side the wire bundle. Depressions in the foam insulation showed that it has been there for some time, and I wondered if it was just a way to get some air to cool the amp but I'd thought I'd see if anyone here can confirm this. I didn't see anything in the service manual showing the hose and what it does.
The attached photo highlights the hose as I found it.
I turned on the heater and air-conditioner and I think I could feel a little air coming out the hose.
Thanks,
