That was obviously tongue-in-cheek [maybe]. As a serious rebuttal some of us stand as bulwarks against tyrany. I, for example, am a nationally recognized civil rights attorney defending innocent persons against overreaching government. I donate hundreds of hours a year to defending innocent individuals against unjust criminal charges brought for purposes of intimidation or revenge, and in protection of First Amendment rights. A publisher bought a book I wrote on the subect and published it ["Beat the Players," Pi Yee Press, 2006]. It has sold thousands of copies instructing people how to protect themselves against corporate security and police overreaching, and gained must buy reviews in the Chicago Tribune and Detroit News, as well as a half-page spread in USA today.
So when your son gets picked up and charged for planted cocaine because he's dating the sheriff's daughter and the sheriff he does not like your son, call a butcher. Your son might rot in jail, but at least you'll have short ribs for supper.
Vegas,
Just from your responses, IMO, you probably are a very competent attorney. As stated you are very adept at defending someone. Unfortunately there is no trial here, no one falsely arresting someone's son for dating the Sherif's daughter. There is NO excuse for this vendor's remarks.
Making an assumption of the way this vendor interpreted Boilerup's comments has no basis in fact, you simply "assume" and we all know what that word truly means when disected.
Even if the vendor did "interpret" the remarks as you suggested, it was his/her option to take the high road. They could have said something like "we really tried to use all the mounting points but found by installing it per our instructions the result was a better, stronger mount." Instead he told a POTENTIAL customer "I honestly don't care what you want. How's that sound." That reply is truthfully, indefensible, there can be no excuse for it!
This is a huge problem in society today. We no longer wish to take responsibility for our actions. It is much easier to just say "...yeah, sorry, BUT YOU MADE ME DO IT!"
Boilerup did not have a gun to this vendor's head, as a potential customer he thought he was being helpful. I am just BURNED OUT WITH EXCUSES!
Thankfully for this vendor, there are people like you that do your best to convince people that the vendor was the victim.
As I said initially, after reading your response I think you are probably an excellent attorney and would probably at this point rank very highly if I needed someone to defend my actions.
