Not sure how it works in California, but New York is covered under the Lemon Law, and all NY Car Dealers must comply.
With the NY Lemon, you are covered bumper-to-bumper for ninety (90) days, irrespective of any additional warranties bought or implied.
I would suspect that California would have something similiar, or one would think...
