I don't think it's relevant to my situation, or better stated, I'm not 100 % sure this is the case.
TSB 21-001-05, Dated Jan 6th, 2005, for Model Years 2004-2005, Manual Shift:
Symptom: Vehicle operator may have difficulty shifting from neutral to first or reverse, or may hear a grind sound when shifting from first to second.
The Fix: Drop the tranny, apply a thing coat of Mopar Anti-Sieze compound to the splines of the input shaft, and re-assemble.
My situation doe not exactly match the symptoms as stated, no issues ever with neutral to First, or First to Second. And going from Neutral to Reverse does not grind with the Clutch fully depressed.
It's that when in Reverse with the clutch fully depressed, it looks and feels like is good to go, but sometimes upon easing up the clutch, I'll get that telltale grind, but if I then apply a slight pressure to the Shifter, she works just fine.
It kinda feels like the reverse shifter throw comes up a little short, and a little pressure in that directions makes things right. Which is why I wondering if there was some kind of adjustment on the throw that might be an easy fix.
Dropping the tranny to apply some jizzim, would ruin my day, and is not my idea of a fun project.
But if that was the final solution, it is under warranty, but I'd hate to go that route unless I had no other options...(or got to the point where Reverse became inoperable)...
Thanx...
Funny that you dug that up. Lately, I've been having (on occasion) a ridiculous amount of difficulty shifting into 2nd. 2nd was always a rough gear, but lately it can take a few seconds to get the gearbox to let me put it in 2nd, and even then sometimes I feel a little grinding being transmitted into the shifter. It's only second, and it doesn't not work all the time, but especially now that it's been getting colder, it's getting harder to shift into second.
I wonder if my car could possibly fall under this TSB. It's not an '05 or older, but maybe I got one of the old transmissions laying around?
