Remove the drain plug with the engine warm, not too hot. Getting burnt by hot oil is painful and can do severe damage to your skin.

Install the new filter and install the four new O-rings, with a spot of oil on each, as shown below.

Using the filter installation tool (MB#105 589 02 09 00 or equiv.) tighten to 18 ft.lbs.


Install the drain plug using a new crush washer if possible and tighten to 22 ft.lbs.


Fill the engine with the new oil and reset the FSS on the dash.

Install the splash shield and tighten the bolts to 5 ft.lbs.

OK, does anyone have the drain plug crush washer dimensions? 14 mm? 12 mm?

I can always wait until I have it in my hand, but I'd rather be prepared!

Anyone?
