the thing to realize is the length of the tool or its design isnt that critical. the proper tool fits a number of transmissions and sticks out of the tube more than 6". woody made his tool for next to nothing b and many follow his lead. you are measuring from the bottom of the pan. i found mine on ebay for less than 20$..
btw i live in a state of confusion!
