Do you have the stock sc pulley or any other performance mods?
I'm still pretty set on it being the sc pulley bearing, but I've been messing with my truck and home issues as of recently and haven't got back to this.
In relation to this issue a while back I had this noise upon starting the car, went away after warming up, but this makes me really think it's the supercharger bearing. I'm having trouble getting the YouTube video to embed...so here it is...(PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THIS IS NOT THE NOISE I HEAR ALL THE TIME, JUST MORE EVIDENCE THAT IT MAY BE THE SC PULLEY BEARING):
YouTube - SC Pulley Bearing?
Hiya Satellite,
Wow, that sounds awful. To me, that sounds like a failed bearing scratching
through the races. Also, towards the end of the video, you have a good
shot of the Super Charger pulley. Maybe it's just my eyes, but it seems to
be spinning with an ocillation. BTW, is that the normal retaining lock
washer on the front of the Super charger? Really looks like it has been
bent a bit my pressure from the bolt. Could just be an optical illusion, but
the way it looks sure ain't how mine looks when it is running.
On the "flutter" you've been experiencing, probably not it, but I recall
several years ago a friend of mine had a similar sound coming from his
Mustang when his super charger would engage. Turned out to be that
his belt was a little loose, and was flapping/slapping on the pulley when
it first engaged.
Good luck,
Coyote
