I remember the winter before I came to Canada and it was a dandy. The snow started on Boxing Day in Potters Bar and lasted until the end of March. The country just about ground to a halt. It never got warm enough to melt the snow and it just kept piling up.
A man up the street had his motor bike hauled away with the snow, it had been covered by a snow plow, and he found it in April on the local soccer pitch when the snow piles started to melt away. He said it started first kick and he rode it home.
