if you dont have a battery to hold the charge the ecu and coil packs would drain the battery long beofre the engine runs out of gas. alternator charges the battery but doesnt power the electricals the battery does

Just thought that in order to keep an alternator charge on the battery, the battery would have to sit in parallel with the volt regulator, if thats the case, your passing power onto the cars electrical system, (from the alternator).
But that doesn't seem to be the case...
