I love the signs. People understand the signs alright, they just have the I'm more important than anyone else syndrome. I was out on the interstate on last Sat. night taking care of an accident and there were people zipping buy on the shoulder at 70 mph. Whatever they have to do is more important.
I don't think it is so much everyone thinking they are more important as much as it is people not being aware there are even other people on the road. The left sign saying "if someone is behind you" is pointless. Most people don't bother checking their mirrors ever. There was a guy in a truck today who had a massive line behind him going 10 under the speed limit. When I finally got past him I looked over and he was just cruising along in his own little world.
My mom is one I would consider a bad driver. Last time I was riding with her, complaining that she wouldn't move out of the left lane, she said that I worried too much about everyone else on the road, and I should just pay attention to me. I think that pretty much summed up what is wrong with people's driving.
And guess who taught my brother and sister to drive. Yep.
