My mom is one I would consider a bad driver. Last time I was riding with her, complaining that she wouldn't move out of the left lane, she said that I worried too much about everyone else on the road, and I should just pay attention to me. I think that pretty much summed up what is wrong with people's driving.

And guess who taught my brother and sister to drive. Yep.
You do have a valid point, I might be that the real answer is somewhere between the two ideas.
