ok i'm gonna pipe in here. i bought a cheapo gsp several years ago (pre-xfire) from the Deal of the Day website. it was a eversham. i believe the uk company was going out of business and dumping these for like $69. other low end gps back then were $150+. it was suppose to use the same maps as garmin so i felt i could upgrade as needed. well check on the price of map upgrades - it's not worth it. fast forward a couple of years and i bought my '05 xfire with nav. maps are from 2004 but it worked. one pro was the integration with the radio. on my old unit, i missed a couple of turns because i'm jammin' with the radio up and never heard the gps.
anyways, i put my old unit in my old jeep. with a top that just snaps on, i never lock the doors. didn't really care if it got stolen because it was cheap when new and now it's old. well, it got stolen.

i wasn't going to replace it but during black friday, staples had a tomtom xxl540mt (lifetime map and traffic updates) on sale for $129.99. they also advertised a 10% coupon for saturday. i stopped by on black friday and found out the tomtom was on sale for both friday and saturday. i bought it saturday with the 10% off - $116.99 + tax. i didn't know much about this traffic thing but now that i have it i really like it. tomtom updates the maps 4 times a year and there is even a user error correction feature that you can send tomtom updates and once verified, they include it on the next map update. this new tomtom is so much better than the old eversham. i even use it in the xfire when on trips since the maps and pois are updated.
