Default Re: How hard is it to get body parts

Hope your Xfire is repaired by next spring/ summer. Please keep us updated. If the bumper is in the junk pile please send me a private email with their phone number so I can try to arrange a deal and have it fixed.

I am sure I am not telling you anything that you were not aware of when you bought your Xfire but it is worth bringing up from time to time. The issue of money owed is kinda like a 'urban legend'. The issue you related about money issues between MB and Chrysler was resolved with the divorce of MB and Chrysler and Chrysler bankruptancy. What is more of a factor is the producer in Europe of the Xfire who went chapter 11 in 2009/10. They make the body parts or at least control the process and molds. The second part of this issue is what you experienced with your call to Chrysler. They or MB don't care about this car. They are just biding their time till their legal time limit to support this car is up and they can finally wash their hands of the Xfire. If you search this site you will find more data on the lack of parts issue. You are not along. It is something we will have to live with and make due with parts that are available. It is worse for the daily drivers out there. Just think how difficult it is working with two companies that are continents apart who are both financialy on the ropes and just want to move forward and forget their pasts.

PS If you think the rear end parts are difficult just try finding front end parts. Leave plenty of room with the car in front of you.
