I've been thinking about getting an SRT6 for some time, and never acted on it. I come to these forums and read every now and then, but still, I'm not very educated with the 32. Anyways, my car decided to drink dextron last month and hydro'd, so now I'm thinking real hard about an SRT6.

Now what makes it easier for me is that I have a little part time car lot and have a dealers license. So I have been searching the auction websites for an SRT6, and I have found a local repo today. I get there and notice the supercharger belt is missing. It starts up, runs and drives fine, but there was a faint high pitched noise. The car runs through, they announce the supercharger inop, and I ended up being the high bidder. But the car failed an inspection (an option dealers can buy when purchasing vehicles) because of an air bag light. I originally had it inspected because of the cold here recently and I was worried about any head gasket/cracked block probs. They said the source of the air bag light can't be traced so it might be the ecu or wiring harness. Now I don't really care about that, because the car was for my personal use and I really wanted to build a modded/daily driver. But they also gave me a little info on the supercharger, they told me the supercharger clutch was removed and the person had welded the pulley so the supercharger was continously running. They said the supercharger was probably toast.

So to my point now, it's not definite that they are correct, cause I have known for them to be wrong. Has anyone heard of someone welding the pulley like this, and does it toast the supercharger? I know how expensive they are, I planned on spending some $$, but I didn't want to go down THAT road. Alot of times I will see people buy cars they can't afford to maintain, and I thought maybe the supercharger was unhooked because it needed a new clutch or IC or something. By the way the car has 70k, and it's not even the color I like, but I thought it would be a good project to put together and do some light mods. Now I had the option to keep it or not, and I decided to turn it down, knowing I would come here and get some educated opinions. It will run through again next week, so I can still get it. So should I mess with this, or leave it alone? My gut says forget about it, lol. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
