My father-in-law (God rest his soul) paid about $5K each back in the early to mid seventies for a 62 & a 66 Vette. He spent a couple of thousand on them...paint, etc. Also I assume some for insurance & taxes. Only put a few hundred miles on each over 30-35 years.....just before he died he sold them for a total of $50-55K. ...I don't know, if he had put that money in the stock market all those years (S&P was about 300 then + dividends)....he probably would have done just as good?
