Splice the wires and solder them and then use heat shrink tubing over the splices, you put the tube on before the joining and soldering of course. Try and keep the spliced joints away from the flexing area as they will be stiffer. Use the Linemans joint on the wire.
The pneumatic line material should not be the same as we have now, it is prone to breaking as evidenced by the problems of it breaking in the lift gate area. Splice it with the new hose, the material that it is made from escapes me at present but is mentioned in a lift gate post. Again keep the splices away from the flexing area and have the new material hose do the flexing.
