i did delete the inappropriate posts but not the entire thread... i'm not sure if another admin or mod elected to do so... but i personally didn’t see any reason for the entire thread to be lost.

And as far as I am concerned, we shouldn't be so focused on what was said and by whom. The Moderator(s) have seen fit to reprimand the Poster and that's OK by me. I am concerned that an entire thread can be arbitrarily deleted due to some misguided Poster with a warped sense of humor.
