A woman who lived behind my mother in law in the early seventies started her manual tranny car and it was in gear. My mother in law heard a bang and saw the surprised woman was sitting on her back lawn having punched a hole through the back of her garage.
The garage floor was at least a foot or so above the lawn, so it must have looked like a Thelma and Louise shot as she come through the wall.
It was tough getting the car back into the garage, as the way back in was the way it had come out.
Moral - keep the switch.
