On the drive home, I the light was still on and I got an alarm that I was "short" 2 quarts. I went to Advance Autoparts and put in two quarts. The light went away and no more problems. I drove the car yesterday for about 90 miles with the light never coming back on.
On the drive to work this morning, the light came back on again for oil pressure..it's the oil canister with wavy lines below it. Then 15 minutes later, the alarm disappeared.
Anyone have this experience after taking a car out of storage???? I am the farthest from being mechanically inclined and could use some help. Thanks
If the oil was short 2 quarts after the oil change then possibly the sensor never had time to activate somehow. If it took 15 minutes to disappear then maybe it takes 15 minutes to appear.
Two quarts is a lot of oil to use in so few miles, you would be trailed by a blue cloud on the road or a huge puddle under the car, just like the Exxon Valdiz had been there.
My guess is 2 quarts short after the oil change.
