that right there is why the c3 is so much better than the crank pullys!! it seems more and more folks take this route only to screw up the crank. if you sheared the keyway your crank is toast. in addition to replace it you are eliminating all the torque values that were used to hand build the engine. basically you just wasted a perfectly good hand built engine
if the keyway slipped out of position and the crank pulley spun on the crank you most likely have scored the crank . polishing may help but on the benz forums 9 out 10 cranks req. replacement. if you sheared the pin the crank has to be replaced. welding the keyway will throw the balance off
