I would look at the contacts on the bulb holder and look for arcing. Poor contact and a fluctuating current does a lot of harm to bulbs.
In the old days a bad voltage regulator could send too much voltage to the battery, check that as well. If the voltage is too high the bulbs burn out prematurely.
I thought the passenger side was the worst to fix.
