Haha, as the owner of both a Prius (my daily driver) and a SLK32 AMG that had my ic pump go out last summer, I can tell you from real experience that YES - A PRIUS WILL BE ABLE TO PASS YOU if your ic pump goes out, especially at highway speeds.
For those who are still wondering, here is the process by which you lose power from a faulty IC pump in the SRT6/SLK32:
1. The OE pump seizes up for whatever reason, age, bad design, etc, and fails to circulate coolant through the intercooler
2. As a result, intake air temperatures (IATs) gets hotter and hotter as you drive because it is no longer getting cooled by the intercooler
3. The hot IATs eventually triggers a fault code in the sensor that says it is over temp.
4. The computer shuts down fuel delivery to the engine to protect it from overheating and save the supercharger.
5. Sometimes, after driving "normally" for a few minutes, the temps go back down and power returns. Rinse, repeat.
So as you can see, its difficult to reproduce every time as it depends a lot on weather, how hard you drive it, how long the car has been running, how long its been idling, etc. All are factors that build up the IATs.
I was tearing out my hair trying to figure this out when I first bought my 32, and accidentally replaced my aux. water pump with a CM30, thinking it was the IC pump lol... Well now I have a CM30 for both IC and Aux. Water pumps in my SLK. A bit of overkill for the former but hey - live and learn!
