I know exactly what your talking about. When I brought mine home for the first time, I checked it over very well and noticed that the bumpers for the hatch were making marks on the paint. I had some teflon tape that I put under mine. It is clear and hard to see but it is starting to wrinkle up. Another place you need to check is the hood bumpers. Mine also scratch the paint. That could also be another rust area.
