Re: Little volume from rear speakers
Initially, I was highly disappointed with my radio and figured that the amp was blown. Even with my ear right up against the sub speakers (knowing that they were ONLY subs), still, I literally could not hear a thing from them. I had precisely the same issue that you are finding. If you follow the instructions for the Biggest stereo bang for the buck mod , you will be VERY PLEASED with the results.
I am now very happy with the improved volume and the bass. I was lucky enough to have had the guidance of this forum's Senior Member, OneHundred80, in doing the modification. Getting the capacitors installed takes about 10 minutes per door if you are not rushing. As was recommended to me, make sure (when you button everything up), that what you just installed won't rattle around inside/against the door. It would be a minor waste of time to one day have to take it apart in search of a rattle that could have been prevented in the first place. You'll know what I mean when you do it.
It seems as is you've already found Pelked's highly recommended mod so now, you just need to get a small slotted driver to pry with, the capacitors, some side-cutters, some electrical tape and a couple of marrettes and you'll be "rockin in the free world", as fellow Canadian Neil Young likes to say!
Once you see how happy you are with your radio, take a look at your on-deck circle. You'll now be smitten with the idea of buying a Nav radio on the net and purchasing Rudy's fully controllable iPod/iPhone/USB Drive/Aux input modification! iPod Control with Factory Nav Radio is Here! How could you pass up an improvement like this one? Come on summer!
