I've only had my 04' for a year. Do the math, a $30k to $32k car and a year later depreciates down to $18k = $14k of a loss.

Buy the car if you fancy it, do not buy the car as an investment!
I also live in Houston and when I was looking for a Crossfire, I talked with a sales guy at a local upscale dealership that had taken a Crossfire in trade and allowed $17K. The dealership shopped the car to the local Chrysler dealers and had no takers. That tells you something about the state of the market. A couple of weeks ago there was a 2004 Crossfire at DeMontrond in Conroe, TX with just over 1100 miles on it. It was a silver blue with a 6-speed. I drove the car, but decided I would rather have an autostick, so I didn't do any price negotiation. The car was advertised in the Houston Chronicle for $22,550 and I am sure you could have cut at least a $1K off of that price.
