See, now that I like - anybody can work on high end cars, it's really no big deal; paint is paint and some high end cars are actually extremely easy to work on. But of course it's much more impressive to show pictures of a Ferrari 458 Italia than a Honda Civic.
I was talking to a detailer last week at Barrett-Jackson in West Palm Beach, FL and he told me that he quoted the owner of a Ferrari 430 Scuderia $550 to buff out the paint, detail the engine bay and interior. The Ferrari owner said he already talked to a guy who would do it for $75. $75!!! So here's some hack who's going to be able to say he details high end cars - and some goof ball who's going to trust his quarter million dollar super car to a $75 hack. Some people are just nuts all around, you know?
I once had to explain to the owner of a 360 Modena why he got ripped off to the tune of $300 by a hack who just saw dollar signs because he was going to clean up a Ferrari. The car was a mess when I saw it, just two days after being detailed and it had been sitting in the garage the whole time! Near as I can tell, the guy just washed it and
maybe threw on a coat of wax for that money, but in all honesty, I don't even think any wax was involved. Well, maybe a spray wax. I redid the car a week later for the same $300 (owner was the friend of a friend) and he said it almost looked like I'd repainted it when I was done, he was so shocked at the difference. And then he was
really mad at the other guy!
