As a prospective buyer I searched the Cars.gov database for recalls and TSB's on the 05 Crossfire before buying. I found no recalls and 18 TSB's. I believe the TSB's were all minor stuff. That's some of the sparsest bulletins for any car I've ever looked up

Separately, I checked Consumer Reports for the 05 model year and the car receives top marks for every category except for "Drive System" (middle score). And "Fuel System" (lowest score). They don't specify what the fuel system complaint was.

Lastly, I lurked on this forum for a while and put the search function to use which really only turned up the inter-cooler pump (no big deal), and a couple of problems with the convertible top (rear glass and electrical switch).

The apparent quality was a factor in my decision to buy. It tells me the car is well designed and put together and therefore a reasonable bet as a used car. And it reinforces the value proposition these cars offer. I still can't believe how drastically these cars have depreciated. Granted, not everyone wants a small two seater. But if that is the market segment you've decided upon, nothing can touch a used SRT6 for performance/quality/value and IMHO looks.

For less than $16K I was able to buy an almost new car that can run with a new 370Z, Mustang, Boxster, or 335i and subjectively is much more pleasing to my eye than any of them.

Not bad for a car nobody wanted. Let's hope the Chrysler/Fiat/Alfa marriage spawns another red headed stepchild!
