Re: Awful tires or terrible roads?
I just took the OEM Conti all season tires off my SRT-6 this week with 17,600 miles on the odometer. The fronts still had maybe another 10,000 miles left in them. The rears were almost down to the wear bars. All four tires were however showing very consistent and normal wear patterns. Even the rears were very evenly worn from the inside to the outside edges. I consider that normal wear for low profile tires.
The car I got rid of when I bought the Crossfire was a Honda S2000. I went through the OEM Bridgestone RE050's and replaced them with Dunlop Z1 Direzza Star Specs. The Honda had a low profile staggered setup as well. Both set of tires exhibited normal, even wear patterns.
So, I'd say your wear is not normal. Cooper is not known as the best tire in the world. There's a reason why they sell for low prices. There are much better choices. Also, have your front and rear end aligned at the same time you put new tires on.
