To overcome this issue I swapped the bezel's using my old key and the new MB bezel. This creates even more work since the slot in the new bezel is too small for your old key. I had to file down the area where my original key fits into the slot with a metal file to get it to fit.
(see pictures) you have to punch out the pin that holds the keys in the bezels and swap them and then it will flip out properly.
Almost done - one more post to come for the final details.
Ok so if you've come this far you just have to finish up by putting the parts back together.
I re-used the black button from my old FOB as thenew one didn't work properly and pop up far enough.
There is a difference on the new FB now where I need ot depress the button to close the Key which I did not have to do with the original FOB. Not a big issue to me but noteable.
Also - my panic button on the new FOB doesn't work - I am guessing there was probably and issue with the circuitboard because the red rubber button was completly worn off of the old FOB and it may have received water damage or something as it was exposed?
Note- When I first went to test the FOB it did not work so I started the car with it to check if the chip worked and then oce I got out the lock and unloclk did start working so I am not sure it the starting the car activated something?
I have not checked the distance this FOB works compared to the original but I believe there may be a more limited range due to the old one having the clear red area to allow for longer range and this FOB does not.
Overall this FOB is a nice solid feeling replacement case - I like the black and it has a nice Mercedes Logo moulded into it which has a nice classy look.
Think thats it.
Cheers,
