Unscrew the bottom tapered "nut" until it's loose. Make sure it, and your hands, are very clean. You are relying on friction to unscrew it. It is silver-painted plastic. Pretty much any tools will scratch it. Wiggle the **** a little and pull straight UP. And, like Pooly said-don't hit yourself in the teeth when it pops off. It's very tight.

You beat me to it ..... I was having my morning coffee while reading the posts, and when I read this thread, I almost fell off the chair. I had to re-read his post 2 or 3 times to make sure my cataracts weren't coming back.
