I too cringed when I read the razor blade and vise-grip method....scary...
I had the most trouble unscrewing the bottom 'nut'. Make sure the **** and your hands are clean and DRY. The **** came off mine pretty smoothly...but you do have to pull with some force.(insert jokes here)
