Normal alternator will power normal car if the loads are not switched on too fast and allow it to drop out. WIthout the battery the voltage can surge and fry the car. You would try this is there was an electrical issue to begin with.

SIMPLE: Measure the battery voltage, remember it, start the car and see that the voltage is about 1 volt higher, this is a simple go no go test ONLY> WOODY
