Toyo Proxies T1R would be my recommendation as an alternative to the stock Michelin PS2 tires. They were a little more expensive than I was looking to spend (came to around $1100 shipped).

I took these on the Tail of the Dragon in the pouring rain and they handled everything I threw at them. Didn't fish tail or lose any sort of control during the whole time.
